City of Refuge || Rosarito, Mexico
Last week, Tim and I had the opportunity to travel south of Rosarito Mexico to the City of Refuge Campus of Tijuana Christian Mission with Eric and Bethany from our church. Tim had been working with Eric on the site plans for an erosion control solution for the property. While a relatively new campus, the serious erosion issues were causing concern and limiting the full use of the property. The guys were able to meet up with key people involved with the mission to discuss of the current concerns and talk through solutions and next steps. The men were incredible who had already given so much of their hearts, time and talents to this organization.
While the men were doing engineering work, Bethany and I were playing with the kids and taking a nice portrait of each …
Haiti Disaster Relief
As I’m sure you know, this has been a horrible week for those living in Haiti. In the blink of an eye, millions of lives were changed forever. The images of destruction and desperation have been heart wrenching, but there have also been stories of hope amongst the suffering. Please pray and consider giving to these awesome organizations.
Clothing Swap
Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a part of a clothing swap. One of my friends organized the event and it was incredible. There were about 20 young women who had dropped of clothes earlier in the week. The idea was to find new homes for your old clothes that you no longer wear. The “merchandise” was divided throughout the house; one room for pants, sweaters, dresses, accessories, workout clothes and tops.
We were divided in teams and rotated through the house picking one item from each room before moving on. It was a lot of fun and a little crazy. Almost everyone came home with bag of new clothes (for free) and there were still plenty of items left to donate to charity. It was a great way to try some new …
Celebration of Caring “Under the Big Top”
This past Friday was the big fundraiser gala for the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Lucas Oil Stadium. The whole evening was centered around the circus. You might recall my previous post with images from the circus that the hospital held in their lobby for their patients. The gala’s special guests included, Ashley and Peyton Manning, Archie and Olivia Manning, Darius Rucker, Jim Nance, and United States Senator Evan Bayh. Another special guest of the evening was the winner of the True Heroes award, Maddie Robertson, who began her fight with a rare form of leukemia just days after high school graduation. A very special auction with items such as a round of golf with Peyton helped raise large amounts of money for the hospital. The evening wrapped up with the entertainment of …
St. Vincent Circus
Last Saturday Tim and I had the joy of capturing a fun afternoon at the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. The event was full of face painting, popcorn, laughs and great performances by the Peru Children’s Circus, Circle City Sidewalk Stompers and the Cirque de la Symphonie. It was a top notch show all around and fabulous to see little faces light up with smiles and giggles.
