Indianapolis| Super Bowl City
2.6.12 PersonalLast week, before the huge crowds arrived and the weather was quite delightful, we packed up the stroller and headed downtown to check out the Super Bowl Festivities. Wow, how Georgia Street was transformed and all of downtown really. The huge banners on all the buildings really gave everything a different feel. I wonder how in the world do you print something so large? The crowds were manageable and the sun was shining.
I thought the zip line looked incredibly fun, although I didn’t give it a try myself. We also went through the NFL experience at the convention center. The highlight was my father in law kicking an extra point, that went right toward me and hit my arm that was taking his picture. No worries, the camera and my arm are OK. On his second attempt he made it and won a Colts Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar. How random is that? Overall the NFL experience wasn’t all that impressive (maybe because waiting in line with a baby isn’t fun), but I was completely impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of all the volunteers downtown.
This past weekend we got to photograph two parties that were going on, but unfortunately I can’t share with you any of those images. With so many events going on, I hope many local people were able to get extra work from the Super Bowl. The event industry in town has been talking Super Bowl for this entire past year and I just hope that the impact for local businesses were what they had hoped for. Pretty crazy, that one game can be such an economic impact.

Drinking on the streets! A little Vitamin D Whole Milk for our little guy.

Hard to believe, but Jonathan might actually be that big someday.

Yep, that ball is coming right toward me!
