Following the A, B, C’s we put them in order; 1,2,3, etc.  We usually stack the front of the list with smaller quicker things to accomplish (email so ...]]> Living together, let alone running a business together takes effort in coordination.  Lack of communication or joint vision of priorities can easily lead to two frustrated people. (and that does happen at times)  One way that Tim and I try to keep tabs on everything and make sure the most important things get done first is making task lists and then prioritizing them together.  Some items get designated T for Tim or M for me.

Following the A, B, C’s we put them in order; 1,2,3, etc.  We usually stack the front of the list with smaller quicker things to accomplish (email so and so, check on…) so we feel like we build momentum and are getting things done.

It’s easy to make two lists; both household (personal) and business.  Things to be cautious of are; being unrealistic in your lists, not being specific enough about tasks (for example picture editing- does that mean culling, editing, exporting, blogging?), or letting your list dictate you so much you forget very important things (like read Jonathan stories before bed).

The next day, re-evaluation what’s left on the list and make a new one.

Confetti cannons throughout the crowd that exploded at the New Year, as ...]]> Andrea and her mom did an incredible job incorporating every detail for their New Year’s Eve wedding in downtown Indianapolis.  Just a few things that stuck out to me:

If you are wanting to order your wedding album and get it before Christmas, the final approval and order must happen by December 1. Prints and other products need to be ordered by December 9th, to ensure they beat Santa to your house.

Family history.  That is why we value wedding albums.  They tell your story,  your beginning of your new family.  At the end of your wedding day you have your marriage, which is what it’s all about.  However, from the wedding day itself, it’s your wedding album ...]]> I remember sitting in my grandpa’s recliner, looking through their wedding album.  As a young girl, I couldn’t have imagined my grandparents young and at their wedding.  Grandma looked gorgeous and her waist was itty-bitty. Grandpa looked so tall, handsome and had a full head hair!  Their reception was actually at a home that is still in the family today (where my grandmother grew up).   They can look at the pictures and tell me who all the people are around them.  Family members I know and those that I never got the chance to meet.

Family history.  That is why we value wedding albums.  They tell your story,  your beginning of your new family.  At the end of your wedding day you have your marriage, which is what it’s all about.  However, from the wedding day itself, it’s your wedding album and memories that remain.  We focus in designing albums that tell the story of the day, the emotions, the important people the places.  We strive to have timeless, authentic images that tell the story of your wedding day.  We want not only you as a couple to cherish your album, but also those generations to come.

We’ve really seen the benefit of physically leaving the office and home, changing the scenery, to have time to connect.  Often some of the need is met by simply visiting relatives or friends in different cities.  We commonly can make a 3 hour drive without even turning on the radio, just enjoying the time to talk together.  The weekend before last we were able to escape for 24 hours to enjoy peace and quiet ...]]> Working with your spouse means you spend a lot of time on your business; physically working, talking through new ideas and being in the same work space.  It is very easy to have your business consume your marriage.  As we’ve found out first hand, add a baby to the mix and time together that is not focused on running your business, household or parenting becomes pretty small.

(we had been to a 3 day work conference earlier in the summer)  While it wasn’t a several day or week long time away that we would long for, 24 hours still seemed pretty amazing.

So for those of you that run a business together with your spouse, I think there is just a special need have a change of scenery and have a rule of no work talk allowed.  Maybe that just looks like a dinner out together, maybe it’s a weekend get away or if you can swing it a week away!  Don’t make the mistake of investing in your business while forgetting the importance of investing in your marriage.
