Indianapolis Wedding Video Blog | Episode 1

Notable Moments | Weddings 2010

Often when I meet new people and they find out I’m a wedding photographer, they ask for crazy stories of wedding days. Well, fortunately I have awesome brides and don’t have any bride-zilla stories to share. However, looking back over the year there were a few notable moments worth sharing with my blog readers.

First, while taking a few group photos downtown Indianapolis on Sept. 11th, a biker gang swarmed the circle. Gretchen and John instantly became celebrities and the whole crew wanted to pose for a picture with them. Not on the “shot list” for group photos, but couldn’t be passed up. The bikers were rallying for Sept. 11th, but what a great thing to be reminded life goes on after tragedy and joy still exists in America.

Our dear friends Emily and Dave got married …

Radio Popper Video Tips Contest

We use an awesome product called Radio Poppers to trigger our remote flashes. These little guys are amazing and were the first product on the market to allow flashes to talk to each other using TTL. If you know what that means, you know it is really exciting. If not, just know that it helps us take much better photos.

Anyhow, Radio Popper recently announced a contest asking people to submit 30-second videos on a photography related tip. We decided to make our video about doing wedding photography while pregnant. There are definitely some things I learned during weddings this year, but you’ll have to check out the video to see them! Just click on that link, find the video title ‘Megan King’s Pregnant Wedding Tips’, and click the vote button. Just like real elections, vote early and vote often!

Christmas Cookies!

Cookie exchanges have become something I look forward to every holiday season.  What a brilliant concept, everyone makes their best recipe and at the end of the night you get to come home with a huge variety of Christmas cookies to enjoy.  Oh, and not to mention “judging” walking around tasting each cookie and washing it all down with milk!  After I saw the competition, I realized I should have stepped up my presentation.  The real kicker, was seeing one of my bride’s from last January with her edible Christmas tree, which was actually made by her hubby!  Needless to say, with stiff competition I did not win any categories. (best use of chocolate, most unique, etc)  It’s still a win because I came home with yummy treats!

My monster cookie recipe from a queen of …

Introducing Tim King | Megelaine Business Director

Life is always changing. One of the biggest changes we’ve been faced with is Tim getting laid off from his engineering jobs twice since we got married in 2006.  It’s no secret that the economy isn’t booming right now, especially in commercial site development, which is the industry Tim had been working in.   Over the past year he’s been working some short term contract jobs in engineering while also helping me with the business.

Now for the big news – We are moving forward with Megelaine Images as a husband and wife team. Tim has been a part of the business for several years, mostly as a part-time second shooter, sounding board and IT help guy. Now, he will be working full time on everything from to photographing on the wedding day and sales meetings to …
