Last Saturday Tim and I had the joy of capturing a fun afternoon at the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. The event was full of face painting, popcorn, laughs and great performances by the Peru Children’s Circus, Circle City Sidewalk Stompers and the Cirque de la Symphonie. It was a top notch show all around and fabulous to see little faces light up with smiles and giggles.

What an awesome day! This morning I had the unique opportunity to take photos at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project site in Indianapolis. On Saturday, the design team surprised the McFarland Family, who will spend the next week in Paris while they get a brand new house! Check out some cool pics of the family finding out from fellow Indy photographer, Jamie Sangar.
The weather was sour, but that didn’t dampen the spirit’s of the hundreds of volunteers that showed up. When we got near the project site, it was too wet to stand outside, and a local church invited everyone inside while we waited to start. The coolest thing happened because church just kept right on going. By the end, the whole place was clapping and singing!
I’m really excited to have the opportunity to go back to the site a couple of times later this week, so be sure to stop back in!

Yesterday I hung out with the amazing Jen Murray and her adorable quads, Brooks, Clark, Henry and Isaac. You might remember their 1st birthday shoot I did last year (and the cake mess that followed!) They are just over the 2 year old mark and Jen shares adventures of her life in her award-winning blog.
I took some quick head shots of Jen while the boys were down for a nap. She has gorgeous blue eyes and a joy for life you can just feel. The other images are just everyday life for the Murrays; sharing mom’s lap for stories, hiding in the toy box, etc.

The time has come again to make space in my camera bag for some new best friends (a D700 and 24-70mm 2.8). While I’m super excited about the newest additions to my gear, I do need to say goodbye to my D200 and a Nikkor AF-S 24-85mm ED 3.5-4.5. I actually shot my first year of digital weddings (I actually did shoot a few in film back in the day!) with this lens, my D100 and one speed light. I remember getting my D200 just a few months before my own wedding back in June of ’06. Both are in great shape. If you are interested in either or both, just email me (megan@megelaine.com) for prices.
Because a post is better with pictures, I thought it would be fitting to post some pictures taken with the D200. In taking a trip down memory lane I pulled images from two of my very memorable weddings in 2006.
First up is Hannah & Bobby who got married in October, 2006 in Owensboro, KY. They were attracted to my work because it was so different than what anyone was offering down in that area at the time. They were both so full of life and love! Tim and I had such a great day capturing such a milestone day for them. The reception was just magical. In the middle of a field under a starry night, one giant tent held this elegant dinner and a party to top all parties. They had a rocking band from Nashville, TN who knew how to get a party going. My favorite part was when Bobby got up to do a solo harmonica performance for his new bride. I really can’t say enough how great they were, so gracious, fun and full of faith in their Lord.

Next up is Starla and Clayton who got married in August of 2006. They both met at Every Nation Church in Carmel, she worked in the office and he was the son of one of the ministers. I actually met this couple working downtown at Second Helpings one Sunday afternoon. Lindsay and I shot this wedding together and were totally in love with this couple. That might have been since we were still on the emotional high of being married in the last two months. Starla was nothing short of glamorous and Clayton was totally thrilled to have her as his wife. They were just such a sweet and faithful couple. Since the wedding, Clayton finished up law school and they are now expecting their first baby!

Last weekend was my sister-in-law Amanda’s baby shower! Amanda and my brother are expecting their first child (a girl) at the end of next month. Amanda’s mom put on the shower of all baby showers. She planned every little detail out and had the cutest ideas. She has a gift in party planning. We started out by each of us decorating an outfit. I was a little rusty with the puffy paint but enjoyed the creative outlet. Of course there was cake, strawberry cupcakes! Several other games were played with the coveted prizes of custom grocery totes that Amanda’s mom had made. The tie breaker for the games was who could built the tallest tower of blocks. Their little girl got so many cute outfits, she will be quite the little fashionista. Stay posted in about a month for pictures of my first niece!
