Today wrapped up the 3 day event of OSP Indy. Basically 3 days of a lot of local photographers, and some not local, hanging out downtown learning from each other and building relationships. This was my first year to attend and I really enjoyed getting to spend time with other photographers.

The speaker today was great for me to hear. He challenged us to ask hard questions about ourselves and our businesses. It all just made me realize, again, how blessed I am to be doing what I was designed to do. Not only do I love art, photography, light and color, but also people and their relationships (with each other, family, friends). I can’t help but fall in love with the couples I shoot. I want to help them have the day they dreamed of and the pictures that remind them how they felt. It is such an honor for me to be able to be in the midst of that and to capture such a monumental day in people’s lives.

I love my job and I am so grateful for those of you who make it possible.

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted. I made a rule with my self that I wouldn’t post until all of my taxes were done. They are in the mail today!

I wanted to introduce my newest product, the wedding proof book. It is a 8 1/2″ x 11″ hardcover book with all the final images from your wedding printed in it, 6 to a page. For your wedding proofs, I offer the choice of either this proof book or loose 4×6 prints.

 New Product
Lastly, I have been working on getting engagement sessions scheduled for the spring. So if you are wanting yours done this spring, please let me know as my days are filling up fast.

Happy Easter! (It’s my favorite holiday)

Okay, so I’m finally ready to post about my brother’s wedding! Warning, this is one huge post!

Ryan and Amanda got married on a winter wonderland of a day, February 23rd. The wedding was in Rockport, my hometown, and where Ryan and Amanda will reside. Prior to the wedding an ice storm had left everything glistening. Perfect for a winter wedding. After the rehearsal, my parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at their home. It was really the perfect setting. My mom’s friend Kim, who was my New Year’s Eve bride, cooked up some fabulous eats!

The next morning I headed to the salon in Owensboro with the ladies. Much to my delight, they had complimentary long john’s (my favorite donut, no filling of course). They did a great job with hair and makeup. You can tell that they had their work cut out for them curling ALL of Amanda’s long red hair. Driving back to my parent’s house, I found my brother and the guys getting ready to head to the church. We were at the church with plenty of time to take some relaxed pictures before the ceremony. Larry, the minister who married us, performed the ceremony. A special twist was that Amanda had all of the grandparents as well as parents light the unity candle. After great words of wisdom from Larry in the message, we rounded up the large families for some group shots after they were pronounced man and wife. (weird sounding to the big sis)

The reception was a dessert buffet that even included Amanda’s favorite, M&M’s. A live band from Indy played classic love tunes. Ryan and Amanda danced to “Baby, it’s Cold Outside”, which couldn’t have been more appropriate for the day. Toasts, bouquet and garter were all to follow. My cousin, Jordan, who has been dating Tim’s good friend, John (a groomsmen of ours), since after our wedding, caught the bouquet. Watch out brides, she has vertical. As Amanda and Ryan left the church, rice roses were thrown at them. On Sunday they headed to a cabin in Georgia to enjoy their honeymoon week. Congrats you two! May God be the foundation of your marriage with love and patience always being present.

How great it is that I have the window open in my office today! Last week I spent some time doing some well-needed spring cleaning on my computer. What a task. I now have 3 external hard drives to hold all of my images.

On perhaps a more exciting note, we finally got a real kitchen counter installed yesterday! For over a year we’ve been using a “temporary” plywood with stick tile counter top. Not glamorous, but functional. We were able to buy the granite counter tops that were used in the Centex show homes from the Indiana Home Show about a month ago. Several pieces broke in the moving, but since we have a small galley kitchen, it was enough for what we needed. I am still in shock when I walk into my kitchen and see real counter tops!

I am working diligently on editing my brother’s wedding pictures this week. I’m sure it will be one beefy blog post later this week. Until then…
